Hello! My name’s Alcina, I’m studying in United Indian School, I’m 12yrs, 8mnths and I’m in 8th grade. To be honest, I was never really interested in sports. I never liked playing outdoors, let alone play basketball. I was, and still am an introverted person. But one day, back in 7th grade, (2023), I just randomly decided to try and play basketball. Even though I didn’t like playing basketball, I still played, only for one person, my mum. She loved playing basketball when she was a child, But she decided to quit because she got bullied by some mean girls. I played basketball for the first semester of 7th grade, but then I took a break for a few months. I recently just got back to playing it last month. I admit it, I still don’t like playing it. But I still do, for my mum. We went out at midnight just to get jerseys for me. The smile on my mum’s face when she saw me in it made me click. I still remember how happy my mum and dad were the day I went to my first ever IBA match and came back home with so many prizes.

From the moment we stepped onto the court, we were met not only with fierce competition but also with warmth and hospitality that left an indelible mark on our team’s spirit.The journey began with nerves and excitement intertwining as we ventured into the unknown territory of a prestigious tournament. Representing our school amidst the best teams in the region was an honor in itself. However, what awaited us surpassed our expectations.From the onset, the Indian Basketball Association welcomed us with open arms. The organizers, volunteers, and fellow competitors extended gestures of camaraderie that transcended the confines of the court. Each interaction, whether it was sharing a pre-game meal or exchanging encouraging words after a tough match, contributed to a sense of unity among players from diverse backgrounds.As the tournament unfolded, we found ourselves tested both physically and mentally. Every game was a battleground where we fought with determination and grit. Despite our best efforts, we fell short in the semifinals. The taste of defeat was bitter, but it ignited a fire within us—a burning desire to return stronger and claim victory.What truly distinguished our experience was the hospitality extended to us throughout our journey. On the behalf of our team, I want to thank you and the IBA for managing last WEEKDAYS AND WEEKEND’S, IBA Super Regional. We appreciate all the effort it took for you to run the tourney. It was a wonderful learning experience for me and our kids so many levels. It was nice to see the IBA represented by several teams at all ages! It’s my great pleasure to thank Almighty and congratulate all the IBA Kuwait members for organizing such a wonderful event. As a Physical Education Teacher as well as a sports enthusiast, I was little late to the field of basketball. In my school days and college days, I focused on other games like Football, Volleyball, Cricket, Badminton, Hockey etc.. When I reached Kuwait, IBA Tournament 2023 was my first ever event where I shown my interest to learn the rules, tactics and the game of Basketball. In response to my interest, DK Dileep sir supported me a lot in handling the score sheet and officials table. In IBA Tournament 2024, it was a great pleasure for me to be the part of the UIS team and to learn team strategies under guidance of Sibi Kurian sir. I assure that it’s not an easy task to organize such a wonderful event with the participation of more than eight hundred school team players and hundreds of professional players.
